Huawei launches Huawei nova 9, Laptop+ Matebook 14s, Watch GT 3 series

Huawei Consumer BG held its APAC Autumn Launch Event, bringing three new super devices, including the HUAWEI nova 9, HUAWEI MateBook 14s, and HUAWEI Watch GT 3 series smartwatches.

Kevin Ho, COO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, gave the opening speech for the Huawei APAC Autumn Product Launch. Ho shared that Huawei has been putting efforts in the consumer business and gains 730 million users worldwide and connected with more than 1 billion devices. Ho also said that Huawei will continue to bring the most innovative, intelligent and stylishproducts to the market.

HUAWEI nova 9: Flagship-grade camera technology for the young
Huawei nova series aims to be the most popular smartphone for young people. Design and R&D teams contribute their passion of life and technology to create beautiful and powerful products for young users.

Flagship-grade camera, capture your day and night:
Huawei nova 9 is equipped with the 50 MP Ultra Vision Camera, the flagship RYYB color filter array (CFA) and XD Fusion engine to dramatically improve the image quality with rich detail and lesser noise in low light shooting. The flagship RYYB color filter array provides 40% improvement of the amount of light while the XD Fusion engine inherited Huawei flagship image algorithm such as AI brightening and anti-distortion .

Breath-taking New Design:
Huawei nova 9 has the remarkable camera layout, Star Orbit Ring. The pearled Starry Blue presents ever-changing colors under the shifting light. The HUAWEI nova 9 features a 6.57-inch 1.07 billion original color display that supports a maximum 120Hz refresh rate. The new Touch Turbo technology optimizes the response speed, stability, and precision of touch control, bringing a faster, more stable, and more accurate game experience.
Silky and seamless experience with fast charging:
The nova 9 also features a 66W Huawei Super Charge, to provide excellent charging efficiency and long-lasting battery life.

HUAWEI MateBook 14s: Sleek Laptop+ with high performance
The HUAWEI MateBook 14s has a slim body design. It has a 2.5k Huawei FullView Display and 90 Hz refresh rate with a ratio of 3:2, to create an engaging visual experience. In a bid to further boost the interface efficiency, Huawei included a 10-point multi-touch capability in the MateBook 14s which allows easier user navigation.

On the performance front, the Laptop+ runs at the new 11th Gen Intel® Core™ H-Series Processor for fast and smooth performance.

Huawei MateBook 14s brings the whole new smart office experience. Certain mobile applications from the PC AppGallery have been chosen to carry out experiments and optimization, and successfully supported by the Huawei Mobile App Engine. The beta version of PC AppGallery will be available for consumer to try soon.

Consumers are able to use mobile applications from PC AppGallery on the MateBook 14s such as scrolling short videos, looking for tasty food, reading news and so on. Among the mobile apps that can be downloaded into the HUAWEI MateBook 14s are Grab, Kumu, Garena Free Fire, Huawei Books, and many more.

Aesthetics: Sleek and slim
HUAWEI MateBook 14s comes with spruce green and space grey which are unique and classy. It has four narrow bezels and 90% high screen-to-body ratio. With support for 100% sRGB wide colour gamut, the display can render 1.07 billion colours to show vibrant colours and smooth transition.

The new laptop provides dual eye protection for users with its TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light (Hardware Solution) and Flicker Free certifications, which helps users alleviate eye fatigue, thus protecting their eyes.

Powerful performance, More Than One Side
The HUAWEI MateBook 14s is powered by the new 11th Gen Intel® CoreTM H-series processor and the Iris® Xe graphics card, The performance mode can be activated by pressing the Fn+P shortcut, which boosts the CPU TDP to 45W. The HUAWEI MateBook 14s has a 60Wh battery and a 65W power adapter, the laptop can work for up to 3 hours on a 15-minute charge.
Smart Office Experience: Super Device

The new laptop comes with multi-device connectivity features, allowing it to sync up with other HUAWEI products, hence forming one Super Device. ZTE CEO Xu Ziyang at MWC Shanghai 2024: Ingenuity for Solid Foundation, Openness for Win-Win

Good day, everyone. It’s an honor to be invited to speak here at the MWC Shanghai. Today, I’d like to share ZTE’s insights and practices under the theme of “Ingenuity for Solid Foundation, Openness for Win-Win”.

Embracing Changes and Promoting Intelligent Evolution

Over the past year, large language models and generative AI have accelerated the transformation towards an increasingly digital and intelligent world. With the rapid emergence of new technologies and products, new business scenarios and models are also gaining momentum. Although generative AI is still in the early stage, there is a growing consensus that the world has already entered an AI-driven industrial revolution. AI will have disruptive and far-reaching impacts on all aspects of production and life, and significantly reshape the global economic landscape. According to forecasts by a consulting firm, by 2030, AI will boost China’s GDP by 26% and North America’s by 14.5%. This is equivalent to USD 10.7 trillion and accounts for almost 70% of the global economic impact. Apparently, AI will bring unprecedented business opportunities in various sectors such as retail, financial services, and healthcare.

Apart from issues concerning hallucinations, security, and ethics, the development of generative AI also faces challenges in terms of computing power, energy consumption, dataset, standardization, commercial application, etc. Therefore, advancements in multiple areas are required. As such, ZTE proposes three major principles: computing and network evolution, training and inference enhancement, openness and decoupling.

First, to break through technology bottlenecks, it’s crucial to strengthen research on architectures, algorithms, computing networks, and hardware-software synergy, thus improving AI training and inference efficiency. Second, various solutions such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and AI agents should be employed to ensure reliability, security, and interpretability, thereby facilitating the widespread application of large models and higher value creation, and building a data flywheel that improves both capabilities and business efficiency. Finally, accelerating standardization through openness and decoupling will help build a thriving industrial and commercial ecosystem.

Building a Highly-Efficient Foundation Through Computing and Network Evolution

To begin with, we emphasize computing and network evolution to build a highly-efficient foundation. For intelligent computing, high-speed network connections are not just vital but also indispensable. From die-to-die connectivity to interconnects of chips, servers, and data centers, continuous innovation and breakthroughs in network technology will greatly enhance the performance and efficiency of intelligent computing.

More specifically, Die-to-Die (D2D) emphasizes high-speed interconnects between bare dies in a single package. Combined with the full series of in-house parallel and serial D2D interface IPs, as well as the advanced 2.5D and 3D packaging technologies, our solution enables heterogeneous integration and disaggregation. To a certain extent, challenges arising from the slowdown of Moore’s Law and constraints in manufacturing can be effectively mitigated. We have developed chip architectures that enable heterogeneous computing and network processing, which in turn deliver enhanced performance and cost efficiency.
