4:23 p.m. October 15, 2024

Limited slots available onsite and online

Free training alert!

Premier Apple partner Power Mac Center (PMC) is serving tech smarts and industry savvy with its latest series of workshops featuring some of today’s movers and shakers. “Masterclass. Create like a Pro” is designed to help users of the Mac and iPad, especially students and aspiring artists, get to know their devices better and stretch their digital prowess.

The upcoming sessions will be held from October to December, to be conducted in person at designated PMC Apple Premium Partner (APP) stores and online. Limited slots are available to optimize participation.

“We put together this program to help our customers discover what they want out of life or their careers through the different perspectives of our guest speakers. These are personalities who journey with the Mac and iPad and continue to achieve great success. Don’t miss this chance, because even those who are not in the metro can still join us virtually,” said Joey Alvarez, PMC Director for Marketing and Product Management.

Upcoming sessions will be on October 26 (ImagineoniPad) at PMC SM City North EDSA – Annex with illustrator Jethro Olba and content creator/entrepreneur Laureen Uy; November 16 (Mac&Me) at PMC TriNoma with content creator Janina Vela and director Samantha Lee; and December 7 (ImagineoniPad) at PMC Power Plant Mall with singer-songwriter/music producer Noah Raquel and visual artist Jer Dee.

Joining is free but on a first-come, first-served basis. Each of the onsite classes can only accommodate 15 to 20 students, while the virtual rooms have a maximum capacity of 30 per session. Stay tuned to Power Mac Center’s OFFICIAL accounts on FacebookInstagramXTikTokViber, and YouTube for the sign up details.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own devices and block off their afternoon, as the sessions are estimated to run from 3-6PM (3 hours).

Brand filmmaker Sid Maderazo and photographer Artu Nepomuceno helmed the inaugural Masterclass last month. Maderazo took his students to a comprehensive exploration of creating a brand film (TV commercial), where he discussed the entire process from concept development and storyboard creation all the way to post-production, perfectly executed in his MacBook Pro.

Nepomuceno brought his wealth of experience in fashion, portrait, and advertising photography—as well as running the business—to guide the attendees. He talked about developing his art to find his creative voice and using it to promote advocacies, creating authentic photos and processing them in his Mac to effectively make his visions and stories come to life.

The campaign spotlights the powerful Mac and iPad lines for handling demanding workflows typical of professionals, artists, and students. The MacBook Pro, for instance, allows you to be productive and creative all day with its battery life of up to 18 hours and beautiful display. Apple’s M3 Pro or M3 Max chip is inside, making everything you do fast and fluid. And like every Mac, it comes with encryption, robust virus protections, and a powerful firewall system so you don’t compromise privacy and security.

The iPad Pro M4, meanwhile, brings versatility, creativity, and productivity to your fingertips. Run multiple apps at once without a hitch, or transform it into your personal drawing canvas, notebook, or journal with the help of Apple Pencil Pro.

Exclusive offers, chance to win exciting prizes

Apart from the skills boost they can gain from the speakers, four (4) lucky attendees will win P5,000 worth of Power Mac Center Gift Certificates during every workshop.

All participants are also entitled to avail of the exclusive promo where they can get P1,000 worth of store credit to spend on any available Apple and/or non-Apple accessories, for every purchase of any Mac or iPad models.

Additionally, the “Miles and Milestones: The 30th Anniversary Raffle” promo is still ongoing, with the deadline for earning entries extended to December 31, 2024. Simply sign up for membership to PMC’s loyalty program, 1 Infinite, in-store or via this link. Once confirmed, make a minimum single-receipt purchase of at least P30,000 for a chance to win a brand-new BYD ATTO 3 Dynamic Electric Vehicle and other exciting prizes! Terms and conditions apply.

SmarTrade Talks Financial Literacy with Future Business Leaders at National Teachers College

7:28 p.m. July 11, 2025

SmarTrade, a leader in empowering Filipinos with comprehensive financial education, trading insights, and market strategies, continues its university outreach initiatives to help young individuals make informed financial decisions and develop essential skills for their futures.

The company was at the National Teachers College (NTC) in Mendiola for the school’s “The Professional’s Playbook in Action” Leadership Series where Ed Saguibo, SmarTrade’s Head of Learning and Development, was invited as guest speaker for the special segment “LEFT BRAIN FOCUS: Financial Precision”.

Saguibo’s talk, attended by Business Administration students, focused on the timely and relevant topic of “Quantitative Decision Making and Identifying Poor Decisions in Financial Choices,” a critical area of knowledge for future professionals navigating today’s increasingly complex financial landscape.  He emphasized how data-backed decisions can positively impact personal and business finances, providing technical insights combined with real-life scenarios and common decision-making pitfalls to offer practical tools that students can immediately apply.

“It’s not just about making smart decisions, it’s about making informed ones.  When students learn how to analyze numbers and spot red flags in their financial behavior early on, they are better prepared to lead successful financial lives, whether as entrepreneurs, professionals, or investors,” said Saguibo.

This is SmarTrade’s third campus engagement for the year under its nationwide campaign P.A.R.T.N.E.R. Summit (Profitable Alliances: Reshaping Trading Networks for Endless Rewards), which aims to promote financial literacy and readiness among students and young professionals. The campaign is built around a vision of equipping Filipinos with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate and thrive in the trading and investment world.  By incorporating school engagements, SmarTrade continues to lay the groundwork for a financially empowered generation.

“We’re proud to bring this advocacy to institutions like the National Teachers College,” said Joyce Mayo, President and CEO of SmarTrade. “Education is at the core of what we do, and through our P.A.R.T.N.E.R. campaign, we aim to go beyond trading to build a community of financially literate Filipinos. These students are the future, and it’s our role to help shape that future through opportunity and learning.”

Makati Business Club believes Customs chief Nepomuceno can reform, modernize agency

5:39 p.m. July 26, 2025

In a strong show of confidence from the country’s premier business group, Makati Business Club (MBC) Executive Director Rafael “Apa” Ongpin praised Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno during a recent high-profile interview, calling him a man of “great integrity” and a capable leader poised to reform and modernize the agency.

“We discussed him in Makati Business Club. Quite a few members are familiar with him — apparently, he came from the private sector. He has a good reputation,” Ongpin said, speaking on behalf of the business community’s early impressions of the newly appointed Customs chief.

Ongpin commended Nepomuceno’s intelligence and openness to innovation: “Apparently he’s very bright, he’s very up to date with technology — and he has great integrity. So, we have high hopes for this guy, Mr. Nepomuceno.”

Commissioner Nepomuceno, who previously held key roles in both government and the private sector, has been widely expected to bring a more results-oriented and transparent leadership style to the BOC. The endorsement from the MBC — an influential voice in Philippine economic policy and governance — adds momentum to ongoing reform efforts at Customs, long seen as a critical chokepoint in trade facilitation and anti-smuggling operations.
